Makivik Scholarship Fund for Nunavik Beneficiaries


  • Be an Inuit Beneficiary of the JBNQA, and a Canadian citizen
  • Have been a resident of Nunavik for at least the 10 previous years, unless you have been working outside the territory for an Inuit organization, and remain associated with a Nunavik community
  • Be enrolled in a MEQ recognized program leading to accreditation at the post-secondary level in a university, Cegep or technical school
  • Be considered a full-time student in your chosen program and maintain this status throughout the semester (passing a minimum of 5 courses at the Cegep level and 4 courses at the university level)
  • Have maintained an overall average of at least 65% in the previous semester of post-secondary studies undertaken in Cegep or technical school; and 60% at the University level.

  • Must be enrolled as a full-time student in one of the following programs: Telecommunications, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Business/Commerce.
  • Must be planning a career in the North in your field of study.
  • Must submit a fully completed Scholarship application form.
  • Must have participated in extracurricular and community organizations, clubs or charities and/or has demonstrated significant leadership in organizations, clubs or charities.
  • Must write a minimum 500 word essay (up to a maximum of 1,000 words) on a topic chosen by the Northwestel Scholarship Committee.
  • Must provide current official transcripts from High School (if not yet attending University) or from current year of University.
  • Must provide two (2) letters of support/recommendation.
