Culture Shock

If you’ve ever been to the south before it’s easy to notice that it’s a very different place from home. A totally different environment surrounds you, with totally different people. Some people have an easier time adjusting to these changes than others but everyone experiences some form of culture shock.

Most times when you’re feeling nervous or uncomfortable in a new environment, you’re experiencing culture shock. Sometimes culture shock could make you feel really homesick and depressed but it’s also important to remember that you can overcome culture shock.

One of the best ways to overcome culture shock is to understand the different stages you might experience.

I wish I could tell you that you only have to go through this cycle once, but you may go through this cycle a few times while you’re in school. Actually, you are going to go through this cycle again and again throughout the rest of your life, so you might as well get good at toughing it out!
